My Story

M

y pronouns are She/her. I'm 21 years old, and I will be starting my third year at UF in the fall. My aim is to become a curriculum developer and instructional designer. After I finish my BA, I will take my master's in Health Education and my Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction. I'm the founder and owner of HARTS, which stands for Health, Access, Research, Technology, and Schools. The company works to promote these factors in Iceland (and hopefully globally one day) and is currently working towards designing the first world-class online course in the Icelandic higher education system and creating a comprehensive health literacy curriculum for K-12 that enables students to make informed decisions, lead healthy lives, and overcome adversities. I'm also the host of the podcast My Atypical Life.

My global health experience is that I know a lot about Icelandic and Nordic culture and health, and I have taken the personal and family health course. I've also had the privilege of traveling around the world prior to this study abroad program. However, I hope to gain more knowledge about different places and health and treatments are different all around the world, and become more culturally competent in my work. I hope to learn more about traveling and culture on the trip.
