Conclusion

As an aspiring health professional, the experiences and perspectives gained from this trip have proven to be invaluable to my growing skill set as a culturally competent individual and professional. This immersive experience will have a lasting impact on my future work and approach to healthcare settings, as well as my personal journey as a student. The insight developed regarding culture's role in the health care system will forever impact my view on systematic implementations of health education and services; this insight is a vital component of my skillset to have an aspiring curriculum developer who aims to create a health literacy curriculum for K-12 education that enables students to make informed decisions, lead healthy lives, and overcome adversities.

Moreover, the first-hand experiences I gained in these in-person classes as a neurodivergent student who is working on implementing systematic changes in the Icelandic education system to increase accessibility, I feel that I have developed a much more nuanced understanding of the environmental factors within the in-person class environments that hinder students who are neurodivergent or have learning disabilities from pursuing higher education. This insight will enable me to have more credibility and comprehension of the subject when addressing them at the systematic level in the school environments in Iceland.

Furthermore, I believe that this experience will not only make me more competent in making systematic changes in the health education field in Iceland, but also allow me to be a better employer who is able to appropriately address the aspects of the work environment that intersect with health and well-being in a culturally competent way.

Overall, this abroad experience equipped me with vital skills as a health educator and professional, helped me grow as a person, and strengthened my belief in myself as a student.
