About EME2040
At the beginning, I wasn't sure if I would like this course and didn't really understand why this course was a requirement for all education science majors. However, I was so pleasantly surprised and now consider this to be one of my all-time favorite courses that I've taken in college. Moreover, I believe that ALL majors should be required to take this course because this course has provided me with skills and products that will be useful to me in any field I decide to pursue.
The teacher and assignments in this course required me to work on projects that are extremely relevant to my real life and will be useful to me for a long time. For example, the LinkedIn assignment requires students to update and make their LinkedIn profile clean and ready for a prospective employer to view. The ePortfolio assignment requires you to make a website that represents you and includes important information about you to send to future employers, which will make you stand out in the crowd of other applicants. The Basic Design Principles assignment requires you to have a working knowledge of effective design principles and to create quality infographics. The Powtoon assignment teaches you to build an effective video presentation about a topic you are interested in by using basic design principles. The Digital Poster project teaches you how to build a research poster presentation about a topic relevant to you and your career. The Educational Technology Careers: Virtual Gallery Walk project requires you to pick one of the many fields in education technology and create a short infographic with a description of the chosen occupation and the salary, benefits, and educational requirements you need to pursue that job. Finally, the Database Searching Strategies assignment also teaches you the basic skills of database searching, which is extremely useful to all students.
I used to consider myself as someone that was not good with technology, but this course has pushed me out of my comfort zone and helped me turn my weakness into a strength. Now, I am confident in my technological abilities and know how to make websites, use photoshop, create a short movie, present a digital research poster, create high-quality infographics, put together a video slideshow in Powtoon, and so much more. I highly recommend this course to anyone.
