Game Lesson Plan

Reflection

In the Educational Games module, we had the opportunity to construct a game lesson plan about one of three educational games that we had tried in class. The games that we had to review and choose from were Nova Labs, which is an evolution lab; Polygons, which is a game about how actions influence society; and Quandry, which is an ethical decision-making game and helps students learn how to separate facts from opinions, develop concern for other's well-being, and promote perspective thinking.

Therefore, I chose to construct a game lesson plan in Quandry as the lesson plan outlined in the report below focuses on incorporating an educational game into aspects of a health literacy curriculum to provide diverse learning opportunities for students to develop 21st-century skills and to promote social-emotional learning. The target audience for the lesson plan was 7th graders in Reykjavík, Iceland, in a health literacy curriculum. The process of creating a lesson plan was very new to me, so I was very grateful for the opportunity to construct a lesson plan, as it is very relevant to my future career. The skills that I learned in this assignment were to critically evaluate educational games, implement game lessons in a school environment, and plan a comprehensive lesson plan for a specific audience.
